Brief Introduction (100 words):
In 1989, Yuan Ze Institute of Technology was
established by Mr. Y. Z. Hsu, the founder of the Far Eastern Group, with the
goal of nurturing high-tech professionals.In 1997, it was officially renamed as Yuan Ze University,
comprising five Colleges of Electrical and CommunicationEngineering,
Engineering, Informatics, Management as well as Humanities and Social
Sciences, to promote education, academic research and practical application
of knowledge.Being animated,
devoted and well-recognized, Yuan Ze was the one only university wining the
National Quality Award in 2003 and one of twelve universities receiving the
Top-University Grant from the Ministry of Education in 2005.It is now reckoned as one of the most
prospective universities in Taiwan.
Facilities (50words)
The University's student living facilities
include the student center, they gym, the track field area and other outdoor
sports courts.Currently, a
health and recreational center is being built, scheduled to open in 2006 to
answer to the students and the faculty's needs for physical exercise and
recreation as well as to substantiate the University's hardware environment
as a first-rate tertiary educational institution.Given the University's emphasis on potential learning in
students' living premises, the living quarters, student centers, campus
societies' offices, study centers, cultural centers, the military training
office and the Student Affairs Office, are clustered together to ease
freshmen into campus life.In
addition the ambient resources such as food courts, exhibition centers,
photocopy centers, convenience stores, campus cafes and the Cave Bookstore
have been installed to simply add to life on campus.
Extracurricular activities (75 words)
1. Student organizations- Yuan Ze University plays host to some eighty strong campus
clubs that can be roughly divided into seven categories by nature including
literary, social, recreational, musical, service-oriented, athletic and
self-governing bodies to encourage students' versatile development.
2. Volunteer groups- There are a
total of four groups on campus, including general aid, living aid, health aid
and Yuan Ze's ambassadors who strive to provide aid in campus living and
learning.
3. Elite grooming program (New
Century Leaders) - The program is created to
provide challenges for students to explore individual potentials and recruit
elite students of varied aptitudes.
4. Workshops- For the betterment of Yuan Ze's volunteer fleets', each
volunteer group has its own special learning courses or integrated lessons in
place in conjunction with common courses for these volunteer bodies.
