Tamkang University, founded in 1950, is the
biggest private university that has the longest history in Taiwan, and also
one of the best universities in the Republic of China. Renowned for its
active research activities and academic excellence, the university now
consists of 4 campuses, 11colleges, comprising of 49 departments and
divisions, 43 master’s
programs and 16 doctoral programs. Total student enrollment is over 27,000.
Currently, Tamkang University is on to its "Fourth Wave" to fulfill
not only its role as a regional comprehensive research university, but also
its final goal of becoming a multi-function international university in the

university views extracurricular activities as an integral part of the total
educational experience, Students, therefore, are encouraged to participate in
the widely diversified clubs and associations organized on campus.
There are more than two
hundred student associations and clubs in Tamkang University. According to
their nature, those student associations and clubs can be classified into
nine main categories: academic clubs, literary groups, athletic clubs,
recreation clubs, social welfare clubs, alumni associations, department
associations, religious associations and musical clubs. Popular musical

events.
