Brief Introduction (100 words):
1. Our History
- In 1965, the founder Tang-Pan (Hsiuping) Lin, established Shu-Teh
Junior College of Home
Economics.
- In 1970, the Ministry of Education (MOE) officially
authorized the institution to rename as Shu-Teh Junior
College of Technology.
- In 1994, the institution was renamed as Shu-Teh
Junior College of Technology and Commerce.
- In 2000, the MOE officially recognized the institution as Hsiuping
Institute of Technology.
2. Our Philosophy
- We, the teachers and the students, are like siblings. Working together,
we are a big family.

Extracurricular activities (75 words)
The extracurricular activities at HIT are diverse
and professional. The primary purposes of these activities are to create the
subjectivity of students and a healthy relation between self and the group;
furthermore, the humanistic spirit is accordingly developed to built up
creativity and practicality, and to reach the objective of "behave self
and educate others." There are two ways for students to participate in
extracurricular activities: one is through the student union and the other
through the student clubs.
Support for international students (50 words)
The Section of Student Guidance counsels foreign students on how to study, raise personal
character and acquire professional/practical knowledge. It also promotes
Taiwan culture and increases the understanding of the foreign students about
the Taiwan culture. In addition, the section instructs the foreign student to
adapt to the domestic life and assists them to solve academic difficulties
and then complete the studies.

There are two Departments (Department of Electrical Engineering, Department
of Mechanical Engineering) and one Division (Division of Management), which
received Ministry of Education Grants for International Cooperation projects
for 2006.

6 Hsiuping Institute employs student counsellors to take care of
students’ daily and psychological problems.
7 The Insitute provides students with a variety of
extracurricular club activities to expand their learning experience outside
classrooms, such as service, academic, recreational, sports, and student
clubs.

outdoor activities.
9 Hsiuping institute frequently holds “Taiwan Folklore &
Culture excursions” to broaden students’ views and understanding about
